Three Reasons Why Sparklers Are Perfect For Send Offs

Long sparklers

There are many different aspects to a wedding. A typical bride will spend months thinking about the food, venue, and of course the wedding dress. What can sometimes be neglected until the last minute is the wedding send off. What’s the wedding send off? The send off is the moment in which the bride and groom leave the reception, ostensibly off to go on their honeymoon. The send off is symbolic of the beginning of married life. It should be a moment of fun and community, with supportive guests usually celebrating in some way as the married couple walks past them. In the past, guests often threw rice in the air. But for many reasons — some of which will be discussed below — rice has gone out of style. A major reason why this is no longer done is that, as the send off is often done outdoors, rice would end up on the grown. In turn, the rice would be consumed by birds — who often died afterwards. So, if you’re not going to use rice, what will you use? Many couples today now prefer to have a wedding sparkler send off. Wedding sparklers have taken over the industry, becoming new classics. Below, we’ll discuss a few of the reasons why wedding sparkler send offs have become so popular in recent years.

1. Wedding Sparklers Come In A Variety Of Lengths

One of the reasons why people love wire sparklers is the variety in which they come. Sparklers aren’t just one and done creations. A wedding sparkler send off can change depending on how long the sparklers are. A shorter sparkler may be appropriate for a shorter send off, while a longer sparkler may be better for a send off that is meant to be longer and more impressive. With that being said, some choose sparklers without carrying how long they are — they should still know, however, that they have options. It’s believed by most that for weddings, 20 to 36 inch sparklers are ideal. The benefit of this type of sparkler is that most guests will only need one, and it will only need to be lit once. Of course, it all depends on what the happy couple wants. There really is no single type of sparkler that is right for a wedding. Again, variety is the key appeal. You have options — and that’s important.

2. Sparklers Can Be Long-Lasting

As we mentioned before, some want their wedding sparkler send offs to be short. Therefore, they don’t want their wedding sparklers to last for a long time. The longer the sparkler is, the longer it will last — and you’d be surprised by how long a typical sparkler can last. A 10 to 20 inch sparkler will usually last for about two and a half minutes, while a 36 inch sparkler will last almost four minutes. A classic sparkler is actually considered between eight and 10 inches long, with the longer sparklers often being made specifically with wedding sparkler send offs in mind. It should be noted that smoke free sparklers also exist, and again are often meant specifically for weddings. With that being said, weddings have guests of many different ages. Are sparklers really safe enough for your guests? The answer may surprise you.

3. Sparklers Are Indeed Safe — Within Reason

Sparklers are much safer than many would think. Although they have a dangerous “look” and feature quite impressive pyrotechnic displays, they’re quite safe. With that being said, anything can happen when children are involved. Though children don’t often have accidents with sparklers, it can happen. The risk for injury involving fireworks is two and a half times higher for children between the ages of 10 and 14. Although it’s up to you, it may be best to keep sparklers in the hands of older guests — and if you do give them to young guests, watch them carefully.
