• The Best Way To Help Children In Need

    Charities that pick up donations

Everybody has clothing, and some people have way too much. Full closets are definitely a blessing, but chances are that there are things in there that you barely wear. During a deep cleaning spree, a lot of people just throw these clothes away in order to get them out of the closet. This is a grave mistake many people make, especially when there are so many children in need clothing out there. Your clothes are perfectly good! Why would you ever just throw it in the garbage when you could help out children in need clothing. Taking the time to donate clothes can do everyone a lot of good.

If you’re not familiar with it, donating clothes can seem awfully daunting. Educating yourself about the process of clothing donations is a great way to clear up any misconceptions and motivate yourself to help those in need. People who donate to children in need clothing are angels! However, there’s always people who keep throwing their good clothes away, and the Earth feels the effects of it.

Environmental Consequences of Throwing Away Clothing

Yes, it’s hard to believe that people are still throwing away clothing and other fabric goods. By throwing away textiles, you are contributing to the large mass of trash just sitting on this Earth taking up space. About 10.5 million tons of clothing and textiles are sent to landfills in the United States each year. That number is absolutely insane and has no excuse, this is because 100% of textiles can be reused no matter what condition the fabric is in. Each American, on average, will throw away 82 pounds of fabric items each year. This is unacceptable when there are children in need clothing out there, and organizations make it incredibly easy to donate.

    The Benefits of Clothing Donation

Taking the time to pull out clothes you don’t wear should be one of the easiest things you can do. Just sort the old clothes into a pile, and soon you will have a good donation ready to go to children in need clothing. Make sure these items are clean and free of stains, rips, and tears. After you determine which articles you’re going to donate, just figure out how and to where you will donate to. You can transport the donation to a clothing drop off location, a drop off box, or even contact organizations that pick up clothing donations from your home. Drop off locations are everywhere, especially in large cities. This makes it easy to just stop off on your way to work or elsewhere and send in your clothing donations.
