A study conducted by health care company Allergan revealed that nearly 60% of the women surveyed between the ages of 21 and 65 claimed they would rather have a younger face than a youthful body.
Naturally, we age, the effects of gravity become visible. Our faces lose volume and our skin wrinkles as we lose collagen, which in turn, alters the appearance of our features. Nearly 64% of those who participated in the survey said the shape of their face has changed over the years, and 44% have experienced a noticeable decrease in volume and fullness within the past decade. Interestingly enough, most of those surveyed felt there was nothing they could do to change it.
However, there are a number of non-surgical treatment options available for women, and men, who would like more youthful and radiant appearance. Juvederm injections have become increasingly popular and are used to restore volume lost due to aging, while Botox treatments are used to smooth and reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Both treatments are usually performed by a dermatologist, and are relatively quick and pain free. “Juvederm is injected under the surface of your skin and is so minimally intrusive that you can even receive treatment during your lunch hour,” said Dr. Janis P. Campbell, Dermatologist at Laser Rejuvenation Clinic and Spa of Calgary
Once viewed with skepticism, both Juvederm injections and Botox treatments are now widely accepted. In fact, even younger women are using Botox in as a means of preventative maintenance and to forestall signs of aging.
Women are they only ones who benefit from Juvederm injections and Botox. Men are also flocking to dermatologist offices in record numbers in hopes of achieving a more youthful appearance in order to remain relevant in a highly competitive job market.
